New Years Resolutions

it is that time of year to reflect on the last and contemplate the future.  last year was full of ups and downs, but somehow i made it through and am probably a stronger person because of it.  this year i have a couple of resolutions.

1) to stand up for myself: i have no reason to be ashamed of who i am, and will no longer take crap from anyone.  i did this once at the end of december and it felt great.
2) to be healthy again: there was once a point in my life were i wasn't drinking a ton of pop and eating fast food every day.  i would like to get back to that as soon as possible.
3) learning to accept that the heart seems to want what it cant have: self explanatory, but the hopeless romantic inside of me cant seem to grasp this very basic concept, even though i acknowledge it here.  strange i know.  if you watch how i met your mother, i have been told by a couple of people that i am like ted.

well that is it for now.  i may or may not have some smaller posts throughout the month but their will definitely be a larger post around the end of january.

Forgot about this thing

I forgot I had this blog until just a few minutes ago.  Originally I started this blog for my Japanese class, but since I graduated it has gone without use.  Well, that is about to change.  I am going to be posting updates and thoughts now......go me.

Lesson 10 Interview

Japanese New Years reminds me of an American Thanksgiving.  People get together with their family or friends and prepare a special dinner called osechi.  I thought that was like the turkey that Americans make.  One difference I found is that some Japanese children get otoshidama which is a small envelope.  The kids can then take this envelope around and collect money from their family.

interview 1

I think that there are many similarities between students in Japan and those in America.  It seems as though many students don’t like to do homework, and whether or not you enjoyed high school seems to depend on how many friends you had.  It does seem like high school is taken more seriously in Japan.  I have never heard of taking a test to get into a public high school until I learned more about Japanese culture.
